Warsaw Ghetto

Author’s Note: I chose this book because I like learning about World War II and this is one of those books. It sends you back to Poland, when the Nazi were invading.

During world war II 400,000 lived in 1.3 square miles of land. This was the Warsaw ghetto, stacked full of people. Where the chance of living was very low. This is where the book “Milkweed” takes place, as a gypsy turned Jewish, fights to find food and survive. This inspiring story by Jerry Spinelli, will catch the eyes of all read to learn about the Jewish ghettos.

The Warsaw Ghetto was the largest out of all the ghettos during the holocaust. Almost half a million people lived there. They lived in 1.3 square miles in the city of Warsaw. There was the smaller and the larger ghetto, the smaller ghetto was for the rich Jews and the larger ghetto was for the poorer Jews. Conditions over all were really bad and most people died from diseases and hunger. The Warsaw ghetto was larger than any other ghetto during World War II.
