"Ribbons"

The reason why Paw-paw did not want Stacy wearing the ribbons on her shoes, was because of past experiences. When Paw-paw was younger, she wore shoes with ribbons. What the ribbon would do is cut criualtion to the toes, not making them grow, only hurt. Another factor to her hatred for ribbon shoes, is when she took stacy's  mom all the way from China to Hong Kong. Messing up her feet even more.

Stacy only wanted to wear the shoes because, she loved to dance. It just happened that the style for dance shoes have ribbons on them. When Paw-paw saw the dance shoes, she thought that Stacy will end up with the same kind of feet. Out of fear and love for Stacy, she tried to take the dance shoes.
